2023 Seminole (Tex.) offensive lineman Rikter Connally announced his commitment to SMU on Friday, giving the Mustangs back-to-back days with commitments. The 6-6, 270-pounder was on campus Thursday night for an unofficial visit.

“First off, I want to say thank you to my family and coaches for getting me to where I’m at today,” Connally said in his tweet. “I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if it wasn’t from them! Next I want to thank every coach and recruiting coordinator for taking times out of their day to recruit and give me another opportunity to play at the next level!

“I am beyond blessed to be where I am today! I wanna say thank you to coach Justice for giving me the opportunity that feels like I’m home! Very blessed to say I’m verbally committing to SMU! Pony Up Dallas! Love you Mom and Dad.”

Connally held offers from North Texas, Louisiana Tech, UNLV, Texas State and others. He’s the second offensive line commit of the 2023 class.

Connally finished fifth in the Class 4A shot put at the 2022 UIL state track and field championships.

The Mustangs have six other commitments in the class of 2023. Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy wide receiver Jaxson Lavender started things off before Frisco (Tex.) linebacker Brandon Miyazono and Dallas (Tex.) South Oak Cliff wide receiver Randy Reece jumped on board. In May, offensive lineman Narado Stoker and athlete Abdul Muhammad joined Reece as SOC teammates committed to SMU.

2023 McKinney (Tex.) quarterback Keldric Luster committed to SMU, he announced on Thursday. On3 ranks Luster as the No. 57 quarterback nationally and No. 137 overall prospect in Texas.
