News broke Tuesday night that SMU will host a big visitor on Wednesday for a visit that can send the school’s athletic programs to new heights. Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff will be on the Hilltop to tour the university, sources told On3.

The news, which was first reported by Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, comes as SMU jockeys for position in conference realignment. In 2023, SMU is joined in the American Athletic Conference by programs like Charlotte, North Texas, Rice and UTSA.

Meanwhile, SMU’s among the schools at the top of conference realignment and expansion buzz.

Kliavkoff will attend Wednesday’s SMU-Temple basketball game in Moody Coliseum, sources told On3. The commissioner will tour campus facilities and meet with university leadership as he continues to evaluate options for the league to expand.
