2023 Everman (Tex.) defensive lineman Kevin Allen committed to SMU on Wednesday, he announced on Twitter. The Mustangs beat out Wyoming, Tulane, Washington State, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston State, North Texas and others for the 6-3, 280-pound lineman.

SMU hosted Allen for an official visit earlier this month, which helped seal the deal.

“It was good,” Allen said of the visit. “Me and my family enjoyed it. Great coaching staff and great environment, school showed all the opportunities they had so it was pretty good. Everything seemed like a family. Everyone was at every event with their children with their own family.”

On3 ranks Kevin Allen as an 87, making him the No. 84 defensive lineman in the nation and No. 142 overall prospect in Texas.

Allen helps SMU continue to build on the top class in the American Athletic Conference.
