SMU will take on Miami at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN in Ford Stadium for Homecoming on Saturday, the ACC announced. After falling at Wake Forest, 13-12, last week, the Mustangs will look to shock the Top 10 Hurricanes.

Despite SMU having five takeaways via two interceptions and three fumble recoveries, Rhett Lashlee’s offense couldn’t get moving. SMU’s offense totaled 236 yards and didn’t score a single point off a Wake Forest turnover in Winston-Salem.

“It’s my job to have them ready. It’s my job to fix issues in the game,” Lashlee said. “It’s my job to put guys in position to be successful. It’s my job when things aren’t going well to get our guys to pull out of it. The one thing they did, they kept playing. They kept fighting. That’s the kind of kids we have. At the end of the day, if we win, great. If we don’t, it’s my fault. I’m the head coach, and I’ve got to find ways for us to win and I call the plays an offense.”

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal was pleased the way his team responded after a slow start. The Hurricanes scored 42 unanswered points to beat up Stanford, 42-7.

“Proud of the way our guys just stuck with it after starting a little bit sluggish on the offensive side of the ball. Just maintaining some composure and staying with it,” Cristobal said. “The defense did a phenomenal job shutting down the opponent and giving us the opportunity to close out the half with a scoring drive and then build some momentum with great defense and great special teams. Then we started cooking and started playing Miami Hurricanes football.”

SMU owns a win in the lone game between the Mustangs and Hurricanes, a 7-3 win in 1965.
