Under Armour All-American OL Abel Hoopii commits to SMU

2025 Honolulu (Hawaii) Farrington High offensive lineman Abel Hoopii committed to SMU, he announced on Monday. The 6-4, 330-pounder picked the Mustangs over finalists Hawaii, San Jose State and UTSA.
Hoopii, a three-star prospect, was just named the Offensive Line MVP of the Under Armour camp stop in Hawaii. He’ll play in the Under Armour All-America Game in January, representing the Mustangs.
After a strong official visit on May 10, SMU surged to the top of his list. The coaches impressed him on his trip to Dallas.
“I really enjoyed the SMU visit,” Hoopii told On3 earlier this summer. “Even though it was quick I got to meet a lot of the staff, current players and past players that are coaches now.”
Offensive line coach Garin Justice and the staff extended a scholarship on April 1. The Mustangs moved quick to get him to officially visit Rhett Lashlee’s program.
