GARNET TRUST | South Carolina running back Lovasea Carroll‘s recruitment came full circle last month when the former Georgia defensive back announced he would be joining the Gamecocks’ program.

As a high school prospect, Carroll committed to South Carolina early in the recruiting process. But he decommitted from the Gamecocks and ultimately signed with Georgia.

Carroll, who is set to play running back in Columbia, was quickly moved to defensive back at Georgia where he played a reserve role this past season.

Carroll, who entered the transfer portal on Jan. 14, announced a commitment to South Carolina late last month.

The On3 Consensus ranked Carroll as the No. 121 overall prospect and No. 4 “athlete” in the 2021 class.

Known for his speed and big-play ability, the Warrenton, Ga. native transferred to IMG Academy in 2019 after spending his freshman and sophomore year at Warren County High School.

As a senior at IMG, Carroll recorded 464 yards and seven touchdowns on just 42 carries while grabbing nine receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown on the way to an 8-0 record.

In the interview below, Carroll discusses his decision to commit to South Carolina, what it was like to play DB, and the excitement level for running the football.

Carroll’s exclusive interview with Garnet Trust will debut below at 11 a.m.
