What Shane Beamer said after loss to Florida

By Jack Veltri

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer met with the media after a 41-39 loss to Florida on Saturday. Here’s what he said.

— Disappointed South Carolina didn’t make enough plays. Proud of the fight. Knew it would be a four quarter SEC war. In the end, didn’t do enough good things to win.

— Main problem defensively was calling a lot of pressures but not running them. Pointed out situations where they ran the pressure but either didn’t execute it properly or got flagged for a penalty. Had some calls that were perfect but Florida made the plays and South Carolina didn’t.

— Extremely frustrating to not get stops on third and fourth down. Did a good job of holding them to field goals in the first half. But when Florida is 75 percent on fourth downs in the last few minutes, they couldn’t get it done. Says they should’ve been off the field multiple times. Going to be a tough night when Florida is passing for over 400 yards and running 81 plays.
