Florence (S.C.) South Florence four-star DL Amare Adams, the No. 1 prospect in the state of South Carolina for 2025, named his Top 7 schools on Tuesday with the Gamecocks, not surprisingly, making the cut.

The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Adams lists his top seven as: South Carolina, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Florida State, and Tennessee.

Adams is the No. 130 overall prospect and No. 14 defensive lineman in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The Gamecocks have been the perceived front-runner for Adams’ services, leading the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at a 91.4 percent clip.

He has visited South Carolina more than any other school, first being prioritized by defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey and then by new DL coach Travian Robertson.

“I have visited South Carolina more than 10 times already,” Adams told On3’s Chad Simmons last month. “Coach Travian Robertson is the new defensive line coach and I like him. He keeps it real. He is going to tell me what is right and what is wrong. I like that about him. What stands out to me about South Carolina is the family culture is a lot like Clemson. It is a big family up there. I feel like part of the family up there too. I really like coach Shane Beamer‘s personality. He has a great personality, and as a coach, I think he would be great to play for.”

Adams is not yet sure when he wants to commit.

USC has three additional offers out in the Palmetto State for the 2025 class, including Irmo’s AJ Brand, Richland Northeast’s Will Wilson (N.C. State commit), and South Florence’s Jayden Sellers.

Scouting report on Gamecocks target Amare Adams

After hitting the radar early in his high school career, it’s been easy to turn on the tape and watch Adams’ development in the last couple years. He lines up inside and outside for Lake City and is a disruptive force anywhere along the defensive front.

The reality is that he is simply too big and physical for most any high school offensive lineman, which allows him to wreak havoc in the backfield. Adams has traits, though, that translate well to the college level. He’s a long lineman who is already physically impressive but has plenty of room to add weight and play inside at the Power 5 level.
