Tennessee Adds Offensive Lineman Antoni Ogumoro And He Details His Choice

Offensive lineman Antoni Ogumoro has been on the move over the last several weeks taking visits to several campuses. Having known where he wanted to go for a couple of weeks, that culminated on Tuesday night with his commitment to Tennessee.

“(I knew) on my visit,” Ogumoro said. “The coaches, the players, just me hanging out with the players. Max (Anderson) and those boys, the class of 24 did a good job with me. It just felt like home for real when I was there. They didn’t try to beat around the bush. They kept it real and honest with me. We just hung out. It felt like we were teammates ever since for real. And the coaches I clicked with them ever since the beginning in November when they started recruiting me. Especially coach Elarbee, coach Heup, coach KP. They kept it real ever since.”

Tennessee did a fantastic job recruiting his entire family. Ogumoro has a special needs brother named Troy, who is an important part of the process. They brought in specialists to make sure Troy had a good visit.

“It impacted us a lot,” Ogumoro said. “I mean after the visit, we talked about it and it was a big thing. It’s one thing to go on a visit and all these schools have done a great job but they really went out of their way and brought the right people to help him out on the visit. They got the right people to accommodate him and make sure he was enjoying himself too. It really took a lot of stress off my parents and they were really able to be a part of the visit as well. They were able to be in the meetings and be with the coaches when they were showing the facilities and what they provide for the players. There were no questions they really had because everything was answered to them while my brother was getting taken care of.”

He really clicked with offensive line coach Glen Elarbee as both have similar demeanors.

“He is a chill dude,” Ogumoro said. “He is very straight up and honest. The way he coaches too, I’ve seen how he coaches and he is a chill guy. He keeps it straight forward. He doesn’t really put his players down. If someone messes up, he just tells them hey you need to fix this. A lot of his players are coachable. I’ve seen that so it makes his job easier and the way he coaches, he is just a chill dude.”
