ï¸âï¸âï¸ Shekai Mills Knight Talks First Visit To Tennessee

Chattanooga Baylor running back Shekai Mills-Knight came to Tennessee on Saturday and left with a big smile on his face. After his visit, he caught up with Volquest to discuss his time on Rocky Top.

“Just the culture here, the environment, the coaching and the scheme I feel like it fits my play style,” Mills-Knight said. “It was a phenomenal visit all around.”

The moment he arrived he was surrounded by the Tennessee staff as he is very much wanted by Josh Heupel and company.

“The love was there,” Mills-Knight said. “I felt the love for sure. I felt like they want me up here.”

He had heard about Tennessee, because he plays just down the road and is surrounded by other players that are being recruited by the orange and white. He was just unaware of how much he would enjoy his time in Knoxville.

“I knew about Tennessee but I didn’t know it was going to be this great,” Mills-Knight said. “It exceeded my expectations and it’s going to be one of my top decisions.”

Tennessee running backs coach De’Rail Sims has been working on him a good amount. The ability to see him coach during practice on Saturday was really big because he can now envision what it would be like to play for Sims.

“Coach Sims is live,” Mills-Knight said. “He is an energetic coach. He coaches really well and his energy is really good. He communicates really well with his players. I wouldn’t mind being coached by him.

“It was really big. I was planning on seeing how he develops running backs and seeing how I’d fit in so it was really big.”

After practice, the two sat down and discussed how he would fit into the offense.

“He told me that since I’m a bigger back that other schools would try to use me only as a bigger back,” Mills-Knight said. “He sees my potential and said he could use me in the passing game. I’m a playmaker so he would use me to the fullest.”

He will officially visit Tennessee the week of June 14-16 and also has trips planned to Oregon and Miami. The other weeks are open as he searches for that feeling of home.

“It’s still kind of open but it really just when I get that feeling I’m going to commit,” Mills-Knight said. “I’m looking for a great environment, great coaches and great resources. Just looking for that gut feeling.”
