Tennessee Baseball Billy Amick Recaps Return To The Lineup And Home Run Day

Billy Amick started the ballgame on a high note for the home team with a two-run home run on the first pitch he saw in 19 days (eight games) in the first inning, enabling Tennessee to cruise over LSU for the 6-3 final score in Southeastern Conference play.

The Vols (28-6, 8-5 SEC) have won game one for the first time in three Fridays, powered behind a three-run fifth inning as the home team tallied six hits on the night. The Tigers (22-13, 3-10 SEC) scored a run in the third but left 10 men on base in the loss.

AJ Causey (6-2) picked up the win in relief for the Vols, tossing 4.2 innings out of the Tennessee bullpen with seven strikeouts and two walks – no runs and five hits. Gage Jump (2-1) is the losing pitcher after allowing five runs off five hits in four innings of work. Kirby Connell was awarded the save (2) after picking up the final five outs.

Tennessee will look to take the series over LSU in game two on Saturday at 5:30 pm eastern time as the game will be televised on the SEC Network. But first, here’s how it all went down for the Vols on a Friday night.
