It’s decision day for 2024 four-star point guard Bishop Boswell. The Tennessee basketball target will announce his commitment decision today at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. The Charlotte, N.C. native, is picking between Tennessee, Georgia, Missouri, Xavier and Wake Forest.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Boswell, out of Myers Park High School, is ranked No. 61 overall in the On3 Ratings. He’s the No. 9 point guard in the class and the No. 6 overall prospect in North Carolina.

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes was in Charlotte to see Boswell last week. He took an official visit to see the Vols the weekend of September 8 and was at Georgia earlier this month. He took June visits to Xavier and Missouri and was at Wake Forest for an official visit in late August.

“I would say (Tennessee) made a really good impression on me,” Boswell told Volquest after his official visit with the Vols. “They’ve got a legendary head coach and I really like the staff.”

“You can tell that the coaches really care about the guys,” Boswell added. “They obviously want them to get better as players, but everyone, coaches and players, are tight off the court as well.”

Tennessee does not currently have any commitments in the 2024 class. The Vols have gotten some help from former Consensus All-American Grant Williams, another Charlotte native, in Boswell’s recruitment.

“Grant Williams reached out to me a couple of weeks ago when he heard that I was going to be visiting Tennessee and we talked about that Charlotte connection,” Boswell said after his Tennessee official visit.

“We talked some (during the visit), just about his experience at Tennessee, what it was like to play there and just about the recruiting process in general. He was a really cool guy.”

Tennessee last week announced a contract extension for Barnes, which now runs through the 2027-28 season. He’s 175-92 in eight seasons with the Vols, leading the program to four seasons of 25 or more wins and two Sweet Sixteen appearances.

“You can tell that they have a good culture there, a winning culture,” Boswell said. “They have a bunch of gym rats on that team, guys that are going to work hard and aren’t going to get in trouble off the court.”

Boswell said after the Tennessee visit that he was still considering each school he had visited and that distance from home wouldn’t be a factor in his decision.

“I’m looking for what I think will be the best opportunity for me on and off the court,” Boswell said, “to develop as a player and a person.”
