A new name to know for Tennessee basketball in the 2024 recruiting class is Bishop Boswell. The Vols offered the four-star North Carolina point guard, who continues to climb in the recruiting rankings, during Peach Jam this week.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Bowell is up to No. 50 overall in the On3 ratings, ranked No. 7 among point guards nationally and No. 4 overall in the state of North Carolina. He’s ranked No. 62 nationally in On3 Industry Ranking, where he’s the No. 9 point guard and No. 7 player in North Carolina.

Boswell is coming off a state championship with Meyers Park High School in Charlotte — he was named MVP in the title game after scoring 22 points to go with six rebounds, four assists and three steals —and has taken official visits to Missouri and Xavier, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw. He’ll also visit Wake Forest on August 2, per Shaw’s report, and is setting up visits with Georgia and Southern California.

On Monday he was one of Shaw’s early standouts at Peach Jam.

“Boswell is one of those guys who simply makes plays,” Shaw wrote, “and that is his appeal. The point guard touched the paint, where he delivered consistent reads. He also knocked down shots at each level. He finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in the win.”

Tennessee coaches during the live evaluation period this weekend also continued to make a priority of 2024 four-star shooting guard Austin Swartz. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound Swartz, out of Cannon School in Concord, N.C., is the No. 28 overall player in the On3 Ratings, is ranked No. 8 among shooting guards and is the No. 1 overall player in the state of North Carolina.

The Vols had an early target on four-star shooting guard Ahmad Nowell, the No. 40 overall player in the 2024 class in the On3 Industry Ranking. He took an official visit to Tennessee back in March.

“I’m looking for a team where there’s a great brotherhood,” Nowell told Volquest’s Rob Lewis after the visit. “I’m looking for a program with a great coaching staff with great player development,” Nowell said of what he’s looking for in a school.

“And I want to find a school that has a history of getting players to the NBA, to the next level because that’s where I want to go. Obviously Coach (Rick) Barnes has sent a lot of guys to the NBA so that appeals to me.”

Swartz took an official visit to Tennessee in June

“I really like their offense,” Swartz said afterward, “their guards have a lot of freedom and a lot of what they do is based on off-ball movement. I feel like moving without the ball and shooting are two things that I’m maybe the best at. I don’t feel like I have to have the ball in my hands to contribute and so I thought what I saw was a pretty good fit.”
