Four-star point guard and Tennessee basketball target Bishop Boswell has cut down his list of schools to six, including the Vols alongside Georgia, Xavier, Wake Forest, Missouri and South Carolina. Boswell is ranked as the No. 50 overall player in the On3 ratings.

Tennessee offered Boswell, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound prospect out Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C., last week during Peach Jam. He’s ranked by On3 as the No. 7 point guard in the 2024 recruiting class and is the No. 4 overall player in the state of North Carolina.

The On3 Industry Ranking has Boswell at No. 62 overall, No. 9 among point guards and No. 7 in North Carolina.

“Great history in (the Tennessee) program,” Boswell told On3’s Joe Tipton, “and experienced head coach (Rick Barnes) that has a great reputation. And they have invested a lot of time getting to know me and share a lot with me about their program even though I received the offer from them only a week ago.”

Vols currently targeting two four-star guards in 2024 recruiting class

Boswell and four-star shooting guard Austin Swartz are currently the two biggest names on Tennessee basketball’s 2024 recruiting board. Swartz, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound prospect out of Cannon School in Concord, N.C., is the No. 28 overall player in the class in the On3 ratings.

On3 has Swartz ranked No. 8 among shooting guards in the class and as the No. 1 overall player in the state of North Carolina.

Tennessee does not currently have any commitments in the 2024 recruiting class. The Vols are planning to only have a couple of slots to fill this fall, while also focusing on recruiting in the NCAA Transfer Portal in the spring.

The 2023 class signed by Barnes included four-star wing Cameron Carr, four-star forward JP Estrella and three-star forward Cade Phillips. Tennessee added two transfers in Northern Colorado wing Dalton Knecht and USC Upstate guard Jordan Gainey.

On3 Scouting Report — Bishop Boswell

On3 National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw: “Bishop Boswell is a tough-minded, paint-touch point guard. At 6-foot-4, he has long arms, and as a former football recruit, he brings a sense of toughness to the court. Boswell is a high-level on-ball defender. He will pick up his man for the full length of the floor and turn his man multiple times.

“Boswell plays well out of the pick and roll, where he makes good reads. He touches the paint in the half-court, and his decision-making is improving. The jump shot is streaky but improving. The arc on his shot can get flat at times, but he is becoming at least a threat from three. Boswell has solid straight-line burst and quick feet. He makes plays.”
