2028 No. 5 ATH, Texas legacy CJ Whaley is only getting better; Buy Stock Now

For 2028 Atlanta (Texas) four-star CJ Whaley, he’s been working towards this since childhood. The multi-sport stud is on the cusp of breaking out in his sophomore season. Schools are buying stock now.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pound, Rivals Industry Ranking No. 5 ATH has the smile and athleticism of his father, who is also his defensive coordinator for the East Texas Jackrabbits, Chris Whaley. You might recognize that name.
Chris starred at Madisonville (Texas) HS before embarking on a solid career at Texas, including a stellar senior season before an Achilles injury took him out for the season on a cold, wet night in Morgantown. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys.
Now, it’s CJ’s turn.
“Me and my team have been working hard, grinding after school every day this summer,” Whaley told Inside Texas. “We’ve been getting it done and are ready for this season.”
In this scrimmage vs Daingerfield, Whaley was unguardable en route to five catches and two touchdowns on 100+ receiving yards.

His recruitment is only beginning. Whaley Jr could play wide receiver, tight end of even EDGE on the defensive side of the ball. He’s open to it all.
“My favorite spot is receiver, but I love D-end too,” said Whaley. “But I’ll play where the coaches tell me to play.”
He’s a physical player with a lot of confidence. And some early offers.
“I’ve got LSU, Arkansas, TCU, Texas Tech, Houston, and UTEP,” Whaley said.
He added a Texas A&M offer less than 24 hours after the scrimmage. And waiting for a Texas offer.
“It would give me the most confidence,” said Whaley, about a Texas offer. “I want to be better than my dad. My dad went there, and I promised him when I was younger, I was going to Texas too. I’m going to be better.”
Chris later briefly played for the Dallas Cowboys.
He’s really good on the hardwood, starting as a true freshman for Atlanta’s basketball team.
Whaley is the No. 86 overall prospect, No. 5 rated athlete, and No. 11 ranked player in the State of Texas for the Class of 2028, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.
