Murphy was also named to the All-Big 12 first team along with his defensive tackle teammate T’Vondre Sweat. A junior from DeSoto who was honored on Senior Day, Murphy has 24 tackles with 10 of them solo and set career bests with 8.0 TFLs and five sacks.
During the Longhorns’ win over Wyoming, Murphy hauled in a one-yard touchdown pass to become the fourth Longhorn lineman to score an offensive touchdown.
The Longhorn defense led the country in third-down defense and red zone defense. Texas allowed just 85 rushing yards per game thanks to Murphy, and gave up only 17.2 points per contest.
