Baxter last played versus UTEP. Inside Texas’ Eric Nahlin provided more information on Baxter on Tuesday.

Defensive backs Xavier Filsaime and Jonathan Cunningham were listed as PROBABLE.

Defensive back Michael Taaffe, wide receiver Aaron Butler, and center Cole Hutson were all listed as OUT.

Taaffe is due to miss time as a result of thumb surgery on Monday. Steve Sarkisian spoke about Filsaime’s ability to step up on Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

“High football IQ,” Sarkisian said. “Very athletic. Can cover. Can tackle. Kind of the prerequisites of being a good safety. I think he has all the attributes to do that. We’ve seen him be very successful in special teams as well. He played a pretty significant amount of football against Oklahoma, so we’ve seen him having to play at a high level. He’s got all the attributes and IQ to be a good football player for us.”

For Mississippi State, defensive lineman Will Whitson, offensive lineman Brennan Smith, and offensive lineman Blake Steen were listed as OUT.

Linebacker Zakari Tillman is OUT- 1st Half after he was penalized for targeting in the first half of the Bulldogs’ game versus Florida.

Running back Fluff Bothwell, who leads Mississippi State in rushing this year with 465 yards, is listed as QUESTIONABLE.

Texas and Mississippi State will kick off Saturday at 3:15 p.m. on SEC Network
