Colin Simmons named a second-team All-American by The Sporting News
Texas sophomore Colin Simmons was named a second-team All-American by The Sporting News on Wednesday. The Sporting News is one of the NCAA’s five recognized All-American selectors. Simmons was the only Longhorn to make either All-America team.
Simmons was named a second-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association and the Walter Camp Football Foundation in recent days. A product of Duncanville, Simmons logged 41 total tackles with 13.5 TFL and 11.0 sacks. He also had two passes defended, a fumble recovery, and three forced fumbles.
Simmons also was named to the All-SEC first team last week. In 2024 as a freshman, Simmons earned Freshman All-American honors as well as the Shawn Alexander True Freshman of the Year Award.
