Decision Preview: Four-star guard, Texas hoops legacy Bo Ogden to announce Tuesday afternoon

September was a busy month on the recruiting trail for Sean Miller and the Texas Longhorns basketball program. Miller and company hosted official visitors from around the nation, including one from Texas’ own back yard in four-star shooting guard Bo Ogden.

Ogden is the son of current Texas men’s basketball general manager and former Longhorn forward Chris Ogden. Inside Texas previews his decision.

The measurables: 6-foot-5, 185 pounds

The date: Tuesday, September 30

The decision: During a ceremony at Westlake High School around 1 p.m.

The rating: 95.27 (four-star)

The ranking: Ogden is ranked as the No. 34 overall prospect, the No. 7 shooting guard, and the No. 4 player in Texas in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Rivals ranks Ogden as the No. 44 overall prospect, the No. 9 shooting guard, and the No. 3 player in Texas.

The finalists: Texas, Purdue, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Kansas, Virginia

The Texas visit: September 26-28

The scouting report from Keenan Womack: Ogden is an elite movement shooter that can knock down looks from all over the floor, especially coming off of screens as a catch-and-shoot threat. With ASAK Elite on the 3SSB circuit, Ogden shot a blistering 46% from beyond the arc, making him one of Jamie Shaw’s best shooters in the entire 2026 class.

At 6-foot-6, he has elite positional size, and, combined with a high release point, is extremely difficult to contest on the perimeter. He has also shown some ability to put the ball on the deck, making him a multi-faceted offensive threat that can make an immediate impact on a college program.

The way it seems to be heading: The Texas legacy took his official to Austin during the football program’s bye and then set an announcement date about as the trip was ending. Though he saw Rick Barnes‘ Tennessee as well as Purdue, the last visit went a long way for Bo and his family. Expect to see a large contingent of Texas Longhorns media at Westlake later today waiting on Ogden’s decision.
