Kickoff times and network designations for four games were released, including home contests against San Jose State, UTEP and Sam Houston, along with the Allstate Red River Rivalry versus Oklahoma in Dallas. Meanwhile, the kickoff time for the season opener at Ohio State, and the network designation for the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown versus Texas A&M in Austin were also solidified.

The opener at Ohio State is now set for 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 30, and will air on FOX. The teams will meet for the fifth time ever with the series even, 2-2, after last year’s win by the Buckeyes in the CFP Semifinals in the Cotton Bowl Classic. Prior to that, Texas defeated Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 5, 2009. The only other contest in Columbus was also the first in the series when UT took home a 25-22 win in 2005. The teams faced each other the following year in Austin, which was won by the Buckeyes.

Texas’ Week 2 home opener against San Jose State presented by St. David’s HealthCare on Saturday, Sept. 6, will also kick off at 11 a.m. CT and air on either ABC or ESPN. The Horns will face San Jose State for just the second time in history and first time since winning at home, 56-0, in 2017. It’s also the third-straight season Texas has taken on a Mountain West Conference foe.

The Longhorns’ Week 3 home contest versus UTEP presented by South Texas Ford Dealers on Saturday, Sept. 13, is slated for a 3:15 p.m. CT start on SEC Network. UTEP is one of three in-state programs Texas will go up against in 2025, including Sam Houston and Texas A&M. The Longhorns lead the series over the Miners, 6-0, including a 5-0 mark at home. Texas and UTEP will clash for the first time since 2020 in a series that has seen the teams face off four times since 2008 after not having played prior to that since 1933 after the first contest occurred in 1930. In the last meeting in 2020, the Longhorns defeated the Miners, 59-3.

During Week 4, the game against Sam Houston presented by Truist will kick off inside DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 20. The game will be available on ESPN+/SEC Network+. The Longhorns and the Bearkats will meet for just the second time in history and first since 2006. Texas won 56-3 in Austin that year.

This year’s edition of the Allstate Red River Rivalry versus Oklahoma will take place at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The game will broadcast on either ABC or ESPN. The Longhorns and Sooners will tussle for the 121st time in series history with Texas holding a 64-51-5 advantage. The series, which began in 1900, was played in Dallas for the first time in 1912 and at the State Fair in 1929, and this will be the 103rd time the game will be played at a neutral site in Dallas. Last season, Texas defeated Oklahoma, 34-3.

This season’s Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown against Texas A&M, which is set for Friday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m., will air on ABC. A Thanksgiving weekend tradition, 2025 will mark the first time the game has been played on the Friday of the holiday weekend since 2007. In the renewal of the rivalry this past season, it was played on Saturday, but in the four meetings prior to that from 2008-11, it was held on Thanksgiving Day. Prior to 2008, the game occurred on the Friday of Thanksgiving from 1996-2007.

The long-time in-state rivals also played on a Friday twice in 1974-75, and in 1941 on a Thursday when Thanksgiving was Wednesday (Nov. 26), for a total of 15 times on the day after Thanksgiving. In all, 84 of Texas’ 119 meetings with Texas A&M have come on Thanksgiving or the day after.

The Longhorns and Aggies will be meeting for the 120th time in a series that dates back to 1894 with Texas holding a 77-37-5 advantage, including a 46-12-1 edge in Austin. This year’s game will be the first time the teams have faced off in Austin since 2010 with last two meetings coming in College Station in 2024 and 2011. Texas has won four of the last five in the series with the lone exception coming in that game in Austin in 2010.

The Longhorns are entering year five of the Steve Sarkisian era, and in the last two seasons have posted a 25-5 record, back-to-back College Football Playoffs semifinal appearances, an SEC Championship Game appearance and a Big 12 Championship. Game times and network designations for remaining games will be announced at a later date.
