Eric Nahlin on Fillinger: Fillinger's a great fit for the defense. He's 6-foot-3.5, 250 pounds but will play comfortably in the 280s, if not a little more. There's a pinch of stiffness on film but a 4.25 shuttle is extremely good at his size. That shuttle tells us he has good initial quickness and body control. His quickness, combined with his college size, will make for an active 4i who is effective at slanting into gaps. He won't be the "move piece" d-lineman that Omenihu and Roach are, that will be Vernon Broughton but Fillinger can be an anchor at 4i like Ta'Quon Graham.
Fillinger is the tenth member of Texas’ 2020 recruiting class joining Vernon Broughton (Cy-Ridge), Prince Dorbah (Highland Park), Kitan Crawford (Tyler John Tyler), Ja’Quinden Jackson (Duncanville), Jaden Hullaby (Dallas Bishop Dunne), Jaylen Garth (Port Neches-Groves), Jake Majors (Prosper), Logan Parr (Helotes O’Connor), and Hudson Card (Lake Travis).
