Five Longhorns named to The Sporting News preseason All-America teams

Texas placed five players on the Sporting News Preseason All-American team, highlighting just how much top-end talent returns to Austin in 2025.

Arch Manning, Anthony Hill Jr., and Michael Taaffe earned first-team honors, solidifying Texas’ presence on both sides of the ball with star power at quarterback, linebacker, and safety. On the second team, running back Tre Wisner and edge rusher Colin Simmons were recognized, showcasing the Longhorns’ balance of proven playmakers and rising stars. It’s another sign of how loaded this roster is entering the season — and why Texas is once again considered a legitimate national title contender.
