The Longhorns are in a quality spot for the On3 Industry Ranking five-star thanks to the efforts of defensive line coach Kenny Baker.

“Coach Baker… I can tell he’s a real dude. He wants to get down to it—find out if you really love football and where your heart and mind is at. But I love that,” Brewster said in May.

On3’s director of scouting and rankings Charles Power offered these thoughts on Brewster in a story from May.

Scout’s Take: “Jalen Brewster is an elite athlete at 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds. He can really run. He’s had some fantastic showings on the camp circuit this spring. You can see the high-end movement skills and play-speed show up on Friday nights. His movement skills stack up really well with prior five-star defensive linemen and you see him make plays all over the field. He lines up as a standup pass-rusher, gets carries on offense even, so there’s a lot to like about Brewster. A ton of athleticism and movement skills, in addition to having ready-made size right now.”
