Former LSU coach Ed Orgeron heaps praise on Texas QB, Louisiana native Arch Manning

After former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron joined the guys at Barstool on the Pardon My Take Podcast recently, he was asked if he could pick one quarterback currently in college to lead his team. He named fellow Louisiana native and Texas starting QB Arch Manning.

“I had an opportunity to go to Texas to speak at their clinic and I watched practice. We knew Arch as a young kid in Louisiana. He liked Joe Brady and we watched him. But I watched him practice, And I’ll say this conservatively, but Arch is as close to — or maybe as good as — Joe (Burrow) as I’ve seen. And I’ve never said that about anybody,”
Burrow helped lead Orgeron and LSU to the National Championship in 2019. He sees the similarities in the two signal-callers.
“(Arch is) smart, tough, athletic,” said Orgeron.
Steve Sarkisian started Quinn Ewers last season, and Orgeron noted that’s the way to handle those situations in coaching.

“It’s credibility,” Orgeron said. “Your players learn to trust you.”
