Butler was once a Colorado commit but elected to decommit from Deion Sanders’ program earlier this month. That came after time spent as a USC pledge.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Butler is the No. 179 overall prospect, the No. 7 athlete, and the No. 16 player in California. He is likely to be a receiver at Texas.
Butler received a Texas offer very close to the beginning of the early signing period, and Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson worked to get him into the fold late.

Aaron Butler’s father, Robb-Davon Butler, played in the NFL for two seasons as a defensive back. He coaches his son as an assistant coach at Calabasas (California) High School. For Calabasas, Butler lines up at receiver, running back and kick returner, anything to get the ball in his hands, according to coach Carry Harris. “He’s one of those guys where you just have to find ways to get him the football,” the coach told On3. Butler said he likes to bounce runs outside, using his speed to burn past defenders. Butler also plays some cornerback, winning multiple one-on-one matchups in the air. In 2022, Butler caught 38 passes for 830 yards and 13 touchdowns.
