Auburn is working overtime to try and flip both Corey Wells and his brother, 2026 linebacker Chris Wells (three-star South Alabama commit). While Texas has not offered Chris, he does have a spot at Texas waiting for him and some offsets that blur lines between walk-on and scholarship player.
Texas has a good chance to hold on but we’re watching what happens with Auburn’s defensive coordinator. If Alex Golesh retains DJ Durkin at defensive coordinator the road gets a little more difficult as Durkin has a solid relationship in place.
With the expectation of losing Vodney Cleveland, Texas is working overtime to keep the highly talented 6-foot-5, 330 pounds Wells. He possesses significant upside at a position that is always a need.
Recruiting, amirite.
Wells is ranked as the No. 278 overall prospect, the No. 32 defensive lineman, and the No. 11 player in Mississippi in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Rivals ranks Wells as the No. 81 defensive lineman and the No. 28 player in Mississippi.
