Four-star DT Vodney Cleveland flips from Texas to North Carolina
The Longhorns have lost a pledge from 2026 Birmingham (Ala.) Parker defensive tackle Vodney Cleveland. The North Carolina Tar Heels flipped Cleveland after pursuing him throughout the fall and hosting him for a visit during the 2025 season.

Inside Texas’ Justin Wells was one of several insiders who predicted the flip. Cleveland had been committed to Texas since June.
Cleveland was ranked as the No. 252 overall prospect, the No. 29 defensive lineman, and the No. 12 player in Alabama in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Rivals ranked Cleveland as the No. 57 defensive lineman and the No. 22 player in Alabama.
Scouting report on Cleveland
Cleveland plays with tremendous power, frequently anchoring against double teams and preventing offensive linemen from reaching the second level. His strength at the point of attack makes him a natural fit in short-yardage, goal-line, and early-down run situations.

On tape, Cleveland shows a strong first step off the ball, effective arm extension, and the ability to keep blockers from getting into his body. He’s not your typical pass-rushing defensive tackle, but he collapses the pocket by driving offensive linemen into the quarterback’s lap—making him a consistent disruptor.
Cleveland’s game is built around physicality and effort. While he occasionally plays high, his motor and raw power make him a valuable addition to the rotation as a run-stopping anchor. Texas is making trench play a priority, and Vodney Cleveland is exactly the type of player who can help them win the battle at the line of scrimmage.
