Fourteen Longhorns named to Shrine Bowl 1000

The East-West Shrine Bowl is an all-star game for college players. Before this season, they put together a list of 1000 all-star game eligible prospects that they believe have the best chances to make the NFL after the year. The list is narrowed down over time to create a final invitation list for the game in the winter.

This year, Texas had fourteen players make the preseason 1000.

Texas tied for the 8th most players listed among SEC schools, with teams like Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, and Oklahoma leading the conference.

The SEC as a whole had nearly a fourth of all players named to the top 1000, with 247. The Big 10 followed with 192. The Big 12 was next with 180, followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference with 172.

In the Group of Five, the Mountain West had 36, the Sun Belt had 29, the American had 22, the MAC had 16, the Pac-12 had 12, and Conference USA had seven. Independents accounted for 22, with Notre Dame contributing 19 to that total.

The 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl will take place at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas on January 27, 2026.
