Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (4) celebrates a first down catch during the second half of the College Football Playoff quarterfinal against the Oregon Ducks at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. on Jan. 1, 2025. Ohio State won 41-21.

To kick off the season, it doesn’t get much bigger than No. 1 Texas vs. No. 3 Ohio State in the famed Horseshoe. Understandably, pretty much the entire focus in this week’s Q&A surrounds the rematch between last season’s semifinal participants.

In a game like this, it doesn’t take long for fan concerns to arise. One of the first questions centered around presumptive starter Graceson Littleton‘s readiness. If he starts, it will say a lot about the staff’s trust in him at nickel, especially going up against a very strong Ohio State receiving corp.

Other concerns are regarding the offensive line. Word on our end is the staff “feels pretty good” about the starters, though given all the new faces, building cohesion will be a work in progress. Fortunately For Texas, Ohio State is replacing its entire defensive line from last year.

The Buckeyes’ sensational wide receiver, Jeremiah Smith, is also at the forefront of fans’ mind. Though he was held to one reception for three yards last year, fans are rightfully curious about his ability to take over a game. If new quarterback Julian Sayin becomes reliant on him is that a good or bad thing For Texas?

With such a quick turnaround playing Ohio State, there’s an extra measure of intrigue surrounding the game plan.
