Texas commit Gavin Fien picked in the first round by the Rangers

One of five top 10 players to commit to the Longhorns in the last 10 years, Gavin Fien is headed off the the minors in hopes of making a big league roster. Drafted No. 12 to the Texas Rangers, Fien is an extremely talented infielder with size. Landing him at Texas would’ve been the equivalent of getting Max Belyeu back and him playing third base or shortstop.

A 50 grade talent across the board, this is a player that could change the trajectory of any college program the second he steps on campus. Unfortunately that will not be happening for Texas.

Similar to Kayson Cunningham, Fien had a tremendous time playing for the 18u Team USA. Batting over .400 as well, he is a dangerous hitter like Cunningham with added size as a bonus.
Congratulations to Gavin Fien and his family, this is a tremendous achievement and cause for celebration and more hard work!
