The first national signing day for college football is Wednesday, December 3. This series will give you the chance to familiarize yourself with the next class charged with keeping Texas near the top of the college football world.

To win at a consistently high level requires talented class after talented class. The top-10 2026 class does that following a No. 1 class in 2025.

On the first national signing day, Inside Texas will offer profiles of each member of the 2026 signing class. Up next, Chris Stewart.

The Player: Chris Stewart, WR, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek

The Rating: 89.90 (four-star)

The Ranking: Stewart is the No. 322 overall prospect, the No. 51 wide receiver, and the No. 36 player in Texas in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Rivals ranks Stewart as the No. 56 overall prospect and the No. 53 player in Texas.

The Highlights:

The Recruitment: Stewart’s recruitment was short and sweet. After a strong Elite Camp in Austin, Stewart earned a Texas offer. He committed to the Longhorns shortly thereafter, and despite rumors he could be dropped from this class, Stewart never blinked. When other programs came pushing, like Tennessee, Stewart stayed true. The second commitment of the 2026 class. He’ll be on campus next month.

The Quote: “The trip was amazing. I had an awesome time down there with my second family. Like I said before, every time I step foot on campus, I feel welcomed. “The vibes are unmatched compared to any other school I’ve visited during my recruitment process,” Stewart said. “Recruiting with Dia (Bell) has been amazing, too. We’re bringing in guys who are unselfish and genuinely committed to helping each other grow, both on and off the field as men.”

The Projection: If I were coaching at some of the places that faced Chris Stewart last year I’d have had some strong words for the defensive coaches who routinely gave him free space in the slot. Stewart has impossible quickness when he has any amount of space to work in and routinely runs by quickly out-leveraged safeties on various vertical patterns. He’s hell on wheels catching screen passes or punts as well and would be a dynamite vertical weapon in the slot. He might be able to play outside as well but as long as high school defenses are giving him so much space to work with inside, if I were his coach I would have little interest in moving him outside to see how it went. – Ian Boyd

The Final Word: Stewart is steady on and off the field. After an injury derailed his senior season, Stewart looks to be back soon, hopefully by Spring ball in Austin.
