The first national signing day for college football is Wednesday, December 3. This series will give you the chance to familiarize yourself with the next class charged with keeping Texas near the top of the college football world.
To win at a consistently high level requires talented class after talented class. The top-10 2026 class does that following a No. 1 class in 2025.
On the first national signing day, Inside Texas will offer profiles of each member of the 2026 signing class. Up next, Kaden Scherer.
The Player: Kaden Scherer, OT, Georgetown (Texas)
The Rating: 86.13 (three-star)
The Ranking: Scherer is the No. 1175 overall prospect, the No. 86 offensive tackle, and the No. 159 player in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Rivals ranks Scherer as the No. 56 offensive tackles and the No. 108 player in Texas.
The Highlights:
The Recruitment: Once Kyle Flood missed on a number of offensive tackle targets, Scherer and the staff stayed close. Scherer turned into a strong late senior evaluation as a Stanford commit. First, he set an OV to Texas late in the 2025 season. Then he was offered ahead of the trip. He flipped less than two weeks later. Texas was always going to be the choice if given the opportunity.

The Quote: “(Texas) offer was pretty special. It’s UT. It’s a well-known name and especially around Central Texas growing up. It’s definitely cool. It’s right in my backyard. It reminds me where I’m at and we’re I’ve grown up.”
The Projection: “Scherer is not an overly physical or overpowering offensive lineman at this stage, but his strength lies in how well he thinks and how cleanly he plays. He’s a cerebral blocker who communicates well up front, identifies twists and stunts quickly, and helps steady an offensive line with consistency and awareness. Texas needs linemen who can understand complex schemes and make real-time adjustments, and Scherer fits that profile. You can never have too many smart players in the trenches, and he is the exact type of prospect who elevates the overall unit with reliability and communication.
Technically, Scherer shows good feet, maintains balance through contact, and keeps his base under him when engaged. He’s not a mauler, but he does not shy away from mixing it up. He stays active on blocks, uses length well, and understands leverage. At 6-foot-6 with room to add size, he offers versatility as someone who could play tackle or slide inside to guard depending on how his body develops. Texas needs depth and flexible pieces on the offensive line, and Scherer provides both.” – Charlie Williams

The Final Word: Scherer is an extremely smart kid with a great frame, excellent feet, and the ability to play each spot along the O-line. After committing to Stanford, Texas turned it up and flipped him a few weeks before NSD. He’ll enroll next month.
