The first national signing day for college football is Wednesday, December 3. This series will give you the chance to familiarize yourself with the next class charged with keeping Texas near the top of the college football world.

To win at a consistently high level requires talented class after talented class. The top-10 2026 class does that following a No. 1 class in 2025.

On the first national signing day, Inside Texas will offer profiles of each member of the 2026 signing class. Up next, Kohen Brown.

The Player:

Kohen Brown, ATH, Waxahachie (Texas)

The Rating:

88.24 (three-star)

The Ranking:

  • No. 536 nationally
  • No. 80 wide receiver in the nation
  • No. 74 overall player in Texas

The Highlights:

The Recruitment:

Kohen Brown always wanted to be a Longhorn. Growing up, Texas was the dream school — the place he saw himself playing long before recruiting ever became real.

After an explosive junior season, Brown started gaining traction nationally. Offers began rolling in, but Texas wasn’t one of them at the time. Brown eventually committed to USC in April following a strong run of spring evaluations.

Heading into his senior year, more and more schools began showing interest. Coaches who saw him in person during spring visits pushed their staffs to offer. Soon, Brown was holding offers from major programs across the country.

With all the new attention, he decided to decommit from USC and take a step back to truly evaluate his options. Programs like SMU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Clemson pushed heavily for him, and he set a top eight along with plans to take multiple official visits.

But then Texas offered — the school he always wanted to play for.

When Brown visited Austin in June, he saw everything he had dreamed of and more. The culture, the offense, the energy, the city — it all lined up. He committed to Texas immediately after the official visit, ending his recruitment.

The Quote:

“Texas has always been my dream school since I was little. It’s Austin. UT provides so much on and off the field. It’s just the mystique of it. I’ve just been a fan of it since I was young. The system as a receiver is favorable — it’s receiver-friendly and lets you make explosive plays. Texas has a ton of quarterbacks lined up who can get receivers the ball. What other place would I go?”

The Projection:

Brown has the ability to play both sides of the football, just like he does for Waxahachie. He lines up at safety, cornerback, and receiver, and his stocky, running-back-type build allows him to play with real physicality.

At Texas, he could legitimately end up at DB or WR. He’s fast, explosive, strong, and plays with a toughness that shows up on both sides of the ball.

Which position he ultimately settles into is still to be determined — but he has the skill set to succeed in either room.

The Final Word:

Texas is getting a hard-nosed competitor who plays through the whistle — and sometimes past it. Brown is the type of kid who loved Texas before Texas loved him, and those players always give everything they have to the program.

He’s a grinder, a worker, and someone who will push himself and the teammates around him every single day. Brown is coming to Texas with something to prove, and he’s going to embrace every opportunity to show he belongs.
