Indiana State guard Julian Larry commits to Texas

The team-building process for Rodney Terry ahead of the 2024-25 season took a significant step with the addition of Indiana State transfer Julian Larry. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder committed to Texas on Sunday after his visit to Austin.

Larry is the third addition via the transfer portal this cycle for Terry and the Longhorns.

A product Frisco (Texas) iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy, started 38 of the Sycamores’ 39 games this year on their way to the NIT final. He averaged 34.4 minutes per game and shot 53/46/78 (FG/3P/FT) this year. He also logged 4.8 assists per game while averaging 11 ppg.

Thanks to Larry’s efforts, the Sycamores won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title and advanced to the finals of the MVC tournament. They were left out of the NCAA Tournament but advanced to the finals of the NIT where Indiana State lost to Seton Hall, 79-77.

In 2023-23, Larry averaged 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds for Indiana State. He shot 60 percent from the field, 46 percent from three, and 82 percent at the free throw line.

Larry’s sophomore season in 2021-22 saw him average 5.7 points and 3.9 rebounds across 30 minutes per game. He started 27 games for ISU and appeared in 30.

His freshman season, Larry posted 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. In his collegiate career, Larry has started 108 games and appeared in 130.

Larry is ranked as the No. 114 overall prospect and the No. 25 point guard in the transfer portal, per the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Larry as the No. 51 overall portal prospect.
