ITYT: Five-star safety Jonah Williams on his official visits and being a dual-sport athlete

The Inside Texas crew is currently in Nashville, Tennessee, for the 2024 On3 Elite Series, hosting over forty of the nation’s blue chip prospects for the 2025 recruiting class. On Tuesday, we sat down with several notable recruits for Texas’s 2025 class, including five star Galveston (Texas) Ball safety Jonah Williams.

Currently, Williams has his official visits set to USC, A&M, and Oregon for the month of June. He claims that he is still very high on Texas as a potential landing spot despite opting not to take an OV in Austin this summer. An in-state prospect, Williams says that he felt as though an official visit was not needed since he was already close to Texas and had visited enough times to feel familiar with the school. Williams does not plan on taking any official visits in the fall.
A dual-sport athlete, Williams is a highly-touted prospect in both football and baseball, and plans to continue pursuing the two in college. In addition to his five-star rating in football, he is also ranked in the top 500 on Perfect Game for baseball. Williams says that baseball and football are equally important in his recruiting process, and he will evaluate the opportunities provided for both sports at his prospective schools.
Williams stated that if he were drafted highly enough in the upcoming MLB draft, he would consider skipping college to go pro immediately. However, he says he would have to be selected in at least the third round for him to give it any consideration.

Williams said Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski view him as an athletic “game changer” who has the ability to affect the value of the class entirely. He has no plans for a commitment date and is currently projected to go to Oklahoma, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
