The Inside Texas Postgame Reaction presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors provides an in-depth analysis of Texas Longhorns’ 27-10 victory over UTEP. The discussion centers around quarterback Arch Manning’s performance, the Longhorn crowd, Texas’ usage of James Simon and problems converting the money downs for the offense.

Arch Manning put out his worst game yet, struggling to find open receivers and making costly mistakes against an inferior team. The redshirt sophomore doesn’t seem confident and knows he is to blame for his own struggles.

Defensive captain Michael Taaffe lamented on the team’s struggles, hoping to show off a better product to the home crowd. He discussed the benefits of playing in front of the home crowd and needing to perform better for the fans who showed up at DKR-TMS.

Freshman James Simon received a bulk of the carries for Texas and looked solid in his performance. While his stats were not the most impressive, his ability to break tackles and make catches impressed Inside Texas.

Texas’ offense continues to struggle on money downs. The Longhorns are now 12/42 on third downs to start the year, and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian knows he needs to put his players in better situations. Still, Texas needs to execute better on these plays, and the Longhorns offense is far from a finished product.
