Should Texas win against Kentucky and cover BetMGM’s current 12.5-point spread, it would be the Longhorns first two-game winning streak against the spread since defeating UTSA and ULM by more than Las Vegas’ margin during the non-conference portion of the 2024 season.
According to OddsShark, Texas was 8-5 against the spread in 2024, covering against Colorado State, Michigan, UTSA, ULM, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas A&M, and Clemson. The Longhorns are 2-4 against the spread this season, only getting to the needed number during the 55-0 win over Sam Houston State and the 23-6 victory over Oklahoma. Texas covered the 40-ish points needed against the Bearkats and the handful needed to cover versus the Sooners.
Against the spread, Steve Sarkisian at Texas is…
- 2021: 5-7
- 2022: 8-5
- 2023: 7-7
- 2024: 8-8
- 2025: 2-4
- Overall ATS: 30-31
- Overall straight up: 42-19
Kentucky has had issues covering the number this year. The Wildcats are 2-3 overall but 1-4 ATS. UK’s only cover this year was in a 30-23 loss to Ole Miss when the Rebels were favored by 8.5. Kentucky failed to cover the margin as a favorite versus Toledo and Eastern Michigan, and paired outright losses with ATS defeats versus South Carolina and Georgia.

Last year, Kentucky covered an 18.5-point spread in Austin by only succumbing to Texas by a score of 31-14.
When it comes to point totals, Texas has hit the over in 2-of-6 games this season, eclipsing the needed 51.5 versus Sam Houston on its own and working with Florida to go well past the total of 42.5.
Kentucky has hit the over in 4-of-5 games, only failing to reach the needed number in the season opener against Toledo.
In 2024, the over hit in six of 16 games for Texas and five of 12 games for Kentucky.
