LIVE UPDATES: Texas takes on San Jose State

Manning throws for four touchdowns and runs for one on the way to a comfortable victory for the Longhorns.

The Spartans had a slant open on fourth down, but Liona Lefau swats the ball in the air, ending the drive and giving Texas the ball back.

San Jose State will resume with the ball in their own half to open the fourth.

Manning scrambles for a first down, and then some! Manning maneuvered around the SJSU defense, down the sideline and in for a 20-yard score, giving Texas a 37-7 lead.

The Spartans attempt to go for it on fourth and nine from Texas’ 37 but a deep pass sails out of bounds. Texas returns on offense.

A Manning sack and fumble is recovered by Texas at their own one. Jack Bouwmeester punts it away, but SJSU has it within Texas’ 40 already.

Texas stops the Spartans on third down and will start with the ball on their own 8.

Mason Shipley hits his first field goal of the season as Texas extends to a 31-7 lead.

Jaylon Guilbeau nearly has his second of the game, but the SJSU receiver makes a play to knock the ball out. Texas takes over on their own 39.

SJSU starts on the 25.

San Jose misses another field goal and Texas leads by 21 entering the half.

Manning throws off his back foot with heavy pressure on him, directly into the hands of an SJSU defender. He returns it to their own 41.

Two minutes left in the half as Texas has the ball on the SJSU 38.

On the second play of the SJSU drive, Hill punches the ball from the hands of star WR Danny Scudero. Jelani McDonald returns it to around midfield. Scudero was injured on the play.

The Longhorns go three and out and SJSU gets the ball back on the Texas 41 with 3:45 left in the half.

A circus catch is overturned in favor of the Horns and the Spartans punt it away. A good bounce and roll pins Texas inside the 10.

Manning can’t find Wingo on a deep throw out of a scramble and the Longhorns are forced to punt it back to SJSU. The ball bounces for a touchback. 28-7 Texas with 5:30 left in the 2nd.

The Spartans strung together a nice drive down the field, converting a four-yard run for the touchdown. 28-7 Texas.

The Longhorns commit a penalty at the 1, but Manning finds Endries again a play later for Texas’ fourth touchdown in as many possessions.

Ty’Anthony Smith and Anthony Hill combine for a forced fumble on 3rd down, with Trey Moore returning the ball to the one-yard line.

Arch looks off the defenders and finds Endries on the leak route for a 36-yard touchdown. Texas leads 21-0

The Longhorns will take over on SJSU’s 41 after a second-straight turnover.

Texas leads 14-0

Texas dominates up front and drives into and through the red zone for a score. Manning finds Livingstone on an RPO to give Texas the 14-point lead.

An errant pass pops into the air and directly into the hands of Jaylon Guilbeau for the first turnover of the year. Texas gains the ball at its own 34.

Manning finds his roommate on a slot fade route on the outside on third down, and it’s all green grass from there. Livingstone gets aided by an SJSU falling down and is untouched on his way to an 83 yard touchdown.

Anyone else getting deja vu? SJSU misses a few chances in the passing game and is forced to punt, giving Texas the ball back within its own ten.

After forcing a three-and-out from SJSU deep in their own territory, Texas’ punt block team nearly gets to the kick, but ends up roughing the punter. Fresh set of downs for the Spartans.

Ryan Wingo drops a key 3rd and 6 pass from Manning and Texas is forced to punt again. SJSU will have it at their own 14.

The Spartans drove on their first possession, but a 47-yard field goal attempt sails wide right. Texas takes over on their own 29.

A Parker Livingstone hold takes away an explosive play and the Longhorns fail to gain more than a yard before punting it away to SJSU. THey will start on their own 40.

The Longhorns will start on offense for the first game of the season at DKR.

Texas is back at Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium for the first time of the 2025 season, taking on the San Jose State Spartans. The Longhorns are looking for a bounce-back week after losing to Ohio State in Columbus last week.
