Jahdae Barron's first interception and Gunnar Helm's TD highlight Longhorn Sunday

Longhorns are everywhere in the NFL.
Sundays (and Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays) give Texas fans an extension of their fandom, with plenty of chances to cheer on alumni now wearing professional jerseys. Here’s another edition of Longhorn Sunday.
A Weekend of Firsts for Fan Favorites (Barron and Helm)
One of the card carrying members of DBU got his first career interception in the NFL on Sunday. In a moment which was probably bittersweet for the fans with equal ties to the Longhorns and Cowboys, Denver Broncos corner Jahdae Barron picked off Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott before halftime. The interception came when Barron erased a route from TE Jake Ferguson and showed off his ball hawking skills that won him the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award for Texas. The Broncos would go onto roll Dallas 44-24.
But in other news for Barron, he’ll be moving out of the nickel spot and into full time cornerback duty for a few games with Patrick Surtain II on IR with a pectoral strain. Barron’s continued development will be huge for the 6-2 Broncos, who are currently in 1st in the AFC West.

The other noteworthy item from Longhorn Sunday came when Tight End Gunnar Helm caught his first career touchdown. Cam Ward threw a one yard TD pass to his Titans’ teammate in the second quarter of Tennessee’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Unfortunately for Helm, the Titans are 1-7 on the year. But, the youth of the Titans squad will continue to give Helm opportunities to showcase his abilities to the front office, Ward and their fans.
