Longhorn Sundays: Horns in the NFL (Week 1)

Longhorns are everywhere in the NFL.
Sundays (and Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays) give Texas fans an extension of their fandom, with plenty of chances to cheer on alumni now wearing professional jerseys. Here’s Longhorn Sunday for Week One of the NFL slate — the top five moments from Texas veterans around the league.

Before we get there, hopefully Xavier Worthy is able to get back on the field for the Chiefs soon. Worthy dislocated his shoulder after taking friendly fire from Travis Kelce in the early moments of Kansas City’s game versus the Chargers in Brazil. I guess Kelce didn’t like when his world famous fiancé said the X-Man was one of her favorite players.
5) Debut catches for Matthew Golden and Gunnar Helm
Golden and Helm made their NFL debuts with the Packers and Titans, respectively, and each hauled in their first career reception. Optimism for Golden in Green Bay couldn’t be higher as he looks to become Jordan Love’s favorite target. Helm, meanwhile, will keep earning young Cam Ward’s trust in Tennessee after a strong preseason.
4) Titans and Broncos turn into a fan-favorite fest
The postgame snapshot from Denver was a treat. Longhorn favorites from multiple eras gathered for a Hook ’Em: PJ Locke, Sam Ehlinger, and Jahdae Barron repping the Broncos; Quandre Diggs, T’Vondre Sweat, and Helm on the Titans.

3) Jahdae Barron seals it for Denver
The Austin native and Thorpe Award winner had a strong debut. He erased a would-be touchdown with tight coverage early, then jumped on a fourth-quarter fumble to seal the Broncos’ win.
2) A T’Vondre Sweat stuff
Sweat stonewalled a quarterback sneak in one of the most remarkable ways you’ll ever see. The big fella continues to remind all the teams who passed on him of their enormous mistake.

1) A Bijan Robinson house call
Atlanta let the game slip away against Tampa Bay, but Bijan still made mustard out of the Bucs’ defense — as only he can.
