Malik Muhammad is putting together an outstanding career

When talking about an offensive lineman or a cornerback, saying they had a quiet game is often a compliment to their play. In the cornerback’s case, if you cover a wide receiver well enough the ball won’t be thrown their way.

Malik Muhammad has started 20 games as a Texas Longhorn, and in those starts he has five games where he allowed zero receptions. Beyond not allowing a reception in 25% of his starts, opponents registered a lone reception against him in 11 of his 20 starts. There is simply not much more you can ask of a lockdown corner.

Muhammad rarely gives up yardage too. He has allowed less than 30 yards in coverage in 80% of his starts. Muhammad has allowed 100 or more yards just once in his entire career. We have seen some truly elite play from the true Junior.

Currently, Muhammad sits tied at No. 19 in Yards per Cover Snap among Power Four players (min. 4 targets).
Muhammad has been a “set it and forget it” guy at cornerback for almost his entire career. You haven’t had to worry about his play in 2025. While he may not have a single interception as a starter, he rarely allows receptions. And if he does, those receptions tend not to go anywhere.
