Texas (9-3) will face Michigan (9-3) for the second time in two years, after the Horns defeated the Wolverines, 31-12, from the Big House in Ann Arbor in 2024.

The Citrus Bowl is contractually obligated to take the highest-ranked SEC and Big Ten teams in the CFP rankings that do not make the 12-team CFP field.

Texas leads the overall series, 2-0. The Horns won the first matchup, taking down UM in the 2005 Rose Bowl, 38-37, on Dusty Mangum’s last second field goal at the end of the 2004 season.

It’s the first time Texas didn’t make the College Football Playoff since 2022. Despite three top-10 wins in 2025, Steve Sarkisian and the Horns were a little short this season.
