No. 37 Dillon Mitchell commits to the Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns added a big piece to the recruiting puzzle on Monday with the commitment of four-star 2022 small forward Dillon Mitchell (Spring Hill, Fla./Montverde Academy).
The No. 37-ranked Mitchell selected Texas over Florida State and Tennessee. The 6-foot-7 athletic left-handed wing made official visits to Ohio State, Tennessee and Florida State in late June. His lone fall official visit was to Texas on October 16.

Mitchell was first a lean to Ohio State then a heavy lean to Florida State later in the process. He was considered a silent commit to the Seminoles for weeks this summer. He held off making a public summer commitment that opened the door for the Longhorns.
Mitchell released a final three of Florida State, Texas and Tennessee on September 27 prior to his official visit to Texas.
The Texas staff made the high-flyer a priority during the summer evaluation period. Inside Texas was informed that the Texas staff felt like Mitchell was a perfect fit in the program on his official visit.

Mitchell becomes the second commitment for the Longhorns in the 2022 class. Mitchell joins On3 No. 14 Arterio Morris (Dallas Kimball) as Texas commitments.
The Longhorns may not be done in the 2022 cycle. They will continue to evaluate prospects in the 2022 cycle both in the United States and internationally along with being active in the portal after the season.
Mitchell will not be the only prospect from Montverde Academy signing with Texas. Mitchell’s girlfriend Jordana Codio (Jupiter, Fla./Montverde Academy) will sign with Vic Shaefer’s women’s basketball program. Codio is considered a top 65 prospect in the 2022 class.
The early signing period begins November 10.
