The SEC is scheduled to announce football opponents for the next four years for every SEC school in a one-hour television special Tuesday night at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network and ESPN2.
The three schools for Texas are longtime, traditional rivals dating back to when the Longhorns were in both the Southwest Conference and the Big 12.
The Longhorns and the Sooners have battled in the Red River Shootout for 125 years, even when Texas was in the SWC and Oklahoma was in the Big 8. The game has taken place annually in Dallas since 1929 at the Cotton Bowl. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 65-51-5. Texas won the last battle 34-3 in 2024. The two teams will face off in the Cotton Bowl on October 11 at 2:30 p.m. ABC or ESPN will televise the contest.

The Longhorns and Aggies first played in 1894 and then played annually from 1915 to 2011. When Texas A&M left the Big 12 for the SEC, the rivalry went on pause at least on the football field. It returned in 2024, and Texas defeated Texas A&M 17-7 in College Station. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 77-37-5. The two teams will play again Friday, November 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Austin, Texas. ABC will televise the contest.
Texas and Arkansas first battled in 1894 and were members of the SWC together from 1915 to 1992. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 57-23, with Texas winning the last battle 20-10 in 2024. The two teams are scheduled to meet in Austin on November 22.
The SEC is moving to a 9-game schedule in 2026. According to the league, the “new format will allow each team to play every other SEC program at least once every two years and every opponent home and away in four years, making it the most fair and balanced schedule in the history of the Conference.”
SEC teams are also required to play another Power Four team or Notre Dame every season.
