In this episode, Joe and Justin discuss:
- Joe and Justin open with the Texas Longhorns’ five participants in the 2023 NFL Combine in Indianapolis over the next week. Keondre Coburn, Moro Ojomo, and DeMarvion Overshown are first up, with Overshown speaking to the media on Wednesday. Justin sees the best drills for each; the bench press for Coburn, interview process for Ojomo, and the shuttle drill for Overshown. Joe sees Ojomo’s agility, Coburn’s versatility inside, and Overshown’s range has their strongest combine attributes. With Bijan Robinson, both agree he’ll slay the interviews and drills, and if he runs a sub 4.5 40-yard dash, go ahead and put him in the lottery pick territory. With Roschon Johnson, Justin thinks the Juggs-catching drill will show scouts his insane upside and versatility, while Joe believes Johnson will shine in the bench press, especially at running back. Both agree Johnson will flourish in the interview process as well.
- Joe and Justin look at the No. 9 Texas Men’s Basketball team on a two-game losing streak for the first time in 2022-23. The Baylor loss on Saturday was an exposure, per Wells, and sees an immediate need at a ball-handler/creator on offense, and lack of rebounding effort displayed vs No. 22 TCU on Wednesday night. Cook breaks it down from the micro and macro levels. On one hand, it’s only a loss on the road to the No. 22-ranked team in the best basketball conference in the nation. On the other, it’s the wrong direction for a team heading into March and the final 5-6 weeks of basketball.
- Joe and Justin talk finish up with the debut of freshman right-hander Labarron Johnson Jr versus No. 1 LSU on Tuesday night. Despite the 3-0 loss, Johnson Jr was electric and looks to be a potential weekend starter heading more into the 2023 season for David Pierce and Horns.
