Quinn Ewers was worth at least two points in Vegas. The news of him playing shot the Vegas line from 10 points to 12.5 in a matter of minutes.

But in reality, how many points will Ewers be worth today?

Furthermore, will his two-game layoff have helped or hurt him as a player? I’m not talking about merely healing from his injuries, I’m talking about the mental side of the game as well as his execution level of the offense.

Did Ewers’ time in-season of sitting back and watching the offense give him a renewed sense of focus and preparation? Did he see things from the sideline in a new light that might improve his own play when the time comes? That would be the hope.

Of course, the time away could also have a negative impact. With the two weeks off, does Ewers show some real rust in his play later today? After all, he was completing nearly 77 percent of his passes in conference through four games before he was injured. Can we realistically expect that level of efficiency later this evening?

Most likely, we’ll see a little bit of both. We’ll see some renewed focus and perhaps a wrinkle or two Ewers has been thinking about, maybe he’ll go to a second read he had not really seen before or not really stewed on during the season as he was prepping for the games. And we’ll likely see some rust, too – a few balls overthrown or poorly timed.

But more than anything, we get a quarterback who has won multiple tight games, who has taken care of the ball really well relatively speaking, and someone we know can win these types of games on the road.

Ewers is worth more than two points in my book.
