Texas is actively evaluating Stanford EDGE transfer David Bailey. Though the EDGE position is already stacked, Coach Sarkisian treats the roster like an NFL team—constantly improving depth. Bailey brings high pass-rushing grades and veteran experience, although his full-field performance and consistency are questioned.
The staff’s interest in Bailey is about depth and experience, especially in case Colin Simmons or others need relief. Texas values his PFF pressure metrics but prioritizes full-edge skills. This move aligns with Sark’s habit of optimizing roster depth for long seasons.
Analysts highlight that while Bailey has great pass-rushing stats, his play-by-play metrics and gap discipline are inconsistent. There’s skepticism on how much of an upgrade he’d offer at a deep position.
OL prospect Zaden Krempin is high on Texas’ radar. He has numerous offers and is serious about his recruitment, focusing on depth charts and academics. His visit may depend on scheduling conflicts, but he maintains strong ties with Texas staff.

Texas targets five OL recruits, aiming for a mix of tackles and versatile linemen. The preferred five include Felix Ojo, Nicolas Robertson, John Turntine, Krempin, and potentially Kodi Greene (a current Oregon commit and high NFL-projection lineman).
USC and Oregon are major competitors, especially for out-of-state prospects like Greene and Chris Henry Jr., increasing the challenge for Texas in those battles.
2026 top RB prospect Ezavier Crowell visited Austin and came away impressed. Though an Alabama native and fan, Texas remains in contention thanks to new RB coach Chad Scott’s quick impact and the program’s RB-friendly system.
