With a recruiting dead period looming, Texas coaches, including the rising figure LaAllen Clark, made strategic in-home visits and high school stops, including powerhouse Duncanville, to establish personal connections and extend offers.

Clark, previously with Ohio State, is gaining traction in Texas recruiting circles. His recent evaluation of edge rusher Landon Barnes led to an offer, signifying a major pivot in Texas’ edge recruitment.

Barnes, a top prospect from Duncanville, has shown major physical development. Texas’ offer solidifies their position in his recruitment, with official visits likely. His size, motor, and upside make him a strong fit for the edge role.

Texas is expanding its edge search nationwide, with names like Dre Quinn from Atlanta in the mix. Coach Clark is leveraging previous relationships from Ohio State days to recruit elite talent coast-to-coast.

Texas is strategically maintaining relationships with talent hubs like Duncanville to ensure consistent pipelines. Edge and defensive line positions are key targets, with two or three edges expected to be signed.

Coaches are emphasizing authenticity and relationship-building during in-home visits rather than sales pitches. Emotional connections, family interactions, and realness are pivotal in final impressions.

Texas is pushing hard for Jalen Lott, a two-way athlete being targeted primarily as a defensive back. Two coaches visited him, underscoring Texas’ commitment. Oregon and other schools are also vying for him.

Derrek Cooper’s visit to Texas significantly boosted the Longhorns’ chances. Previously lukewarm, his recruitment is heating up due to Coach Chad Scott’s persistence and impressive hosting during the unofficial visit.

Early buzz surrounds K’Adrian Redmond, a massive 2027 prospect with strong ties to Texas. His frequent visits and trust in Coach Kenny Baker place Texas in a favorable position.
