Texas is riding high on recruiting momentum after a major weekend filled with visits and scrimmages. Over 25 prospects attended, including several key targets now trending toward committing to the Longhorns thanks to well-planned visits and consistent communication from the staff.

Kosi Okpala from Katy Mayde Creek is gaining steam with Texas, despite interest from Penn State, thanks to a strong bond with Coach Johnny Nansen. Texas also likes Calvin Thomas and is eyeing additional talent from Georgia and California, building depth and diversity at linebacker.

Texas is appealing to recruits by showing development pathways—highlighting how past stars like Micah Parsons (at Penn State) and current Texas LBs impact the field. This strategic vision is a major draw for recruits who want both playing time and NFL grooming.

DB Yaheim Riley, a Houston decommit, is strongly leaning toward Texas after a powerful visit. LB Ezavier Crowell is now likely Alabama-bound but Texas remains in contact. Georgia edge rusher Xavier Griffin is viewed as a long-term edge prospect despite his LB classification.

Texas is prioritizing two backs: KJ Edwards as the speed threat and Amari Latimer as the physical counterpart. Crowell remains a top national back but is leaning toward Alabama or Auburn. The Longhorns are now focusing their push on Latimer with an upcoming official visit.

Four-star CB Samari Matthews from North Carolina had a transformative visit and is now seen as a likely Texas commit. His connection with new coach Mark Orphey and the program’s vision made a huge impact. Other schools in contention include Clemson, Florida State, and South Carolina.

Stanford transfer WR Emmett Mosley joins Texas, bringing experience and blocking skills. Despite modest stats, he fits Texas’ need for a reliable receiver who complements younger stars like Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore. Texas may still pursue another receiver depending on fit.
