Miller’s contract is for six years and starts at $4.8 million for the 2025-26 season, increasing by $200,000 every year according to the board of regents agenda. His deal runs through the 2030-31 season.

The salary puts Miller in the upper half of the conference as far as salaries go and among the top 15 coaches in the nation, according to USA Today data.

Buyout data was not included on the board of regents agenda.

Miller can receive up to $850,000 in bonuses on his contract. A conference regular season title nets him $100,000, as does a conference tournament championship. He’ll also get a $100,000 bonus for making the NCAA tournament. That bonus increases by $50,000 for every step the Longhorns take in the postseason. But if Texas wins the National Championship, his bonus will rise to $500,000. Miller also will net $100,000 if he wins a national coach of the year honor and $50,000 if he takes home conference coach of the year.

Miller’s contract will feature other perks typically seen in University of Texas head coaching contracts. He’ll have access to two dealer cars and club memberships “in accordance with the athletic department’s policies and procedures.” He’ll also have access to 20 tickets for all home basketball games, eight tickets for all away basketball games, 12 tickets to all postseason basketball games, and six tickets to home games for all other UT sports.

Miller will have the ability to use a private airplane for 20 hours of personal use. He’ll also receive a “Nike Elite Allowance” totaling $5,000 a year, plus a one-time relocation payment of $250,000.

Former Texas head coach Rodney Terry was paid around $3 million in 2024-25 before his dismissal following Texas’ loss to Miller’s Xavier in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament.
